Anabaena Sensory Rhodopsin (ASR) is a photoreceptor that regulates expression through the sensation

The membrane protein Anabaena Sensory Rhodopsin (ASR) is a photoreceptor that can regulate gene expression, and is characterized by high sensitivity to light. ASR can regulate the expression of genes through the C-terminus. In addition, the directional terminology can be classified into N terminus representing the head with the 5' end of DNA while our target aims at the C-terminus referring to the 3' end of DNA at the tail of DNA . If given light of a specific wavelength (or specifically 500 nm), the photoreceptor can be turned on causing the retinal conformational change from all-trans to 13-cis thus allowing the ASR protein to leave the PcpcB.
